Support iron metabolism, collagen production and immune function with bioavailable copper
Copper is an essential trace mineral involved in iron metabolism, connective tissue formation, energy production and antioxidant defence. It is a required cofactor for the enzyme lysyl oxidase, which crosslinks collagen and elastin, making it particularly important for skin, blood vessel and joint integrity. Copper also plays a central role in converting iron into its usable form, which is why unexplained anaemia sometimes responds to copper rather than more iron.
Each capsule provides 2.5mg of copper in the citrate form, which is well absorbed and gentle on the stomach. This dose is appropriate for correcting a shortfall or supporting increased need, such as during high dose zinc supplementation (zinc and copper compete for absorption, and prolonged zinc use above 30mg daily can deplete copper stores over time). The capsule shell is hydroxypropyl methylcellulose, making this product suitable for vegetarians and vegans.
Key benefits:
| Each capsule contains: | %NRV* | |
|---|---|---|
| Copper | 2.5 mg | 250% |
† Nutrient Reference Value (NRV*) not established
Cellulose, Hydroxypropyl Methylcellulose (capsule), Copper Citrate.
Directions for use:
Take 1 capsule per day with food.
Taking copper with a meal supports absorption and reduces any chance of stomach discomfort. Avoid taking at the same time as zinc, iron or high dose vitamin C supplements, as these can interfere with copper uptake. Separating them by 2 hours is sufficient.
If using copper to offset zinc supplementation, a common ratio is 1mg copper for every 15mg zinc. At 2.5mg per capsule, this covers zinc intakes up to approximately 37mg daily. Most people do not need to supplement copper unless they are taking zinc long term, have a diagnosed deficiency, or have specific connective tissue concerns.
