Avoid alcohol and stimulants

Caffeine is often used to hold us up when we are tired. It achieves this by forcing our system to produce stress hormones. With cases of fatigue, relying on stimulants is like sticking a crowbar in a crack of a failing dam, it will prevent recovery. Short term it can be scary to let go of your crutch, however, it will make no end of positive difference in the long run. Alcohol is double trouble as it both steals antioxidants that should be directed for energy production and prevents us from sleeping properly. We suggest leaving it out totally for 4-8 weeks. 

Focus on nourishing movement in small increments

This will allow the body to rebuild itself. Examples such as Yin yoga, and Qi Gong, as well as gentle 15-20 minute walks outside, will nourish the body but not trigger the adrenal system. Intensity does help recovery from fatigue. The aim is to achieve regularity and reconnect with the body.

Include organ meats

Believe it or not, organ meats provide the most bioavailable nutrition to support recovery. Organic, pasture raised liver, kidneys or heart snuck into a Bolognese sauce, meatballs, burgers, quickly sautéed in a pan, or mixed with oats and baked as a bread twice a week is ideal.
