How to boost your results
Histamine naturally develops in food as it matures so anything aged like cheese, fermented vegetables, alcohol and cured meat or fish will contain high amounts which will exacerbate symptoms. Additionally, some foods encourage more histamine to be released by the body so it is also advisable to limit these during allergy season. They are spinach, strawberries, citrus fruits, nightshade vegetables (aubergine, tomatoes, peppers, chilli, and white potatoes), cacao or chocolate products, coffee and mushrooms.
In the same way that the foods mentioned above will add to histamine burden, other foods will naturally decrease symptoms by blocking its actions. Raw red onions, fresh parsley, nettles, broccoli and green tea can be helpful here.
Histamine is produced in muscles as we exert ourselves to help recovery. If you are really suffering it would be advisable to stick to lower intensity activity to prevent this from causing another influx of histamine to the system.
