Migraines and cluster headaches can have multiple causes. The result is a collection of a number of symptoms that can include head, neck and eye pain, aura, nausea, vomiting, photosensitivity, changes to taste and smell as well as fatigue. 

Specific nutrients have been evidenced to decrease severity and frequency of migraines in chronic sufferers suggesting that deficiencies of these are part of the inflammatory process involved.

For those that experience hormonal migraines they usually come with a decreased efficiency in liver function that is allowing hormonal recirculation during specific times in a woman's cycle.

For those that experience migraines following a traumatic incident, viral infection or seemingly random onset we need to address musculoskeletal structure, immune response and toxic load.

How to boost your results

Ocular Stretches

Relax in bed, then take your gaze up to the top right hand corner of your vision without moving your head, trying to look as far as you can, hold for 8-10 seconds then close your eyes and relax. Repeat 5 times then do the same to the bottom left, top left, bottom right and finally up and down.If you find the number of repetitions or length of hold is too much at first then start with 5-6 second holds, 3 times in each direction & build up. *NB if migraines/headaches are due to a traumatic neck injury then please consult your physician or care team before doing these.

Chin Tucks

Make sure your lower jaw is relaxed and in line with the upper jaw then very gently press your head back into the pillow so you feel a very light stretch at the base of your skull where your neck inserts. Hold for 8 seconds and release. Repeat 4-5 times.It might radiate into your temples and eyes, this is very normal. *NB if migraines/headaches are due to a traumatic neck injury then please consult your physician or care team before doing these.

Temporalis Massage

Place your hands either side of your head so the heels of your palms sit just along/slightly under the bony ridge that runs front to back above your ears. The tips of your fingers should just tap each other along the midline of your skull.Apply firm but even pressure with your hands and massage in gentle circles along the sides of your head. If it’s really sore, release the pressure after each circle for a second then go again.Repeat for 10 slow counts, then do 10 in the opposite direction. *NB if migraines/headaches are due to a traumatic neck injury then please consult your physician or care team before doing these.
