Betaine hydrochloride, taken before meals to support stomach acid.
per day £0.15 per capsule
★★★★★ "I won't go back to high street supplements. The difference in quality is something you can actually feel." Susie
Betaine hydrochloride is a source of hydrochloric acid taken with food. It is used to support the acid environment of the stomach during a meal.
Stomach acid is needed to begin protein digestion and to release minerals from food. People take betaine HCl before meals when they want that support, usually on practitioner advice.
Each capsule provides betaine HCl with nothing else apart from the vegetable shell, so the dose can be built up capsule by capsule. It is often chosen by people who want it without the pepsin found in some blends.

Take at the start of meals for best results.
Signs include bloating after meals and feeling overly full.
No, enzymes support digestion without reducing your natural production. They are safe for long-term use.
People whose practitioner or nutritional therapist has suggested a stomach-acid supplement with protein meals and who want a single-ingredient capsule at a stated dose. Not for anyone with a stomach ulcer, gastritis or on regular anti-inflammatory tablets. There is no authorised health claim, so Nutri Tailor does not promise an outcome.
Same core molecule, opposite purpose. Betaine HCl releases hydrochloric acid in the stomach and is taken immediately before meals. Betaine TMG (betaine citrate) is a methyl donor taken with food. They are not interchangeable.
Tablets need binders, fillers and a coating to hold their shape. A capsule is a cellulose shell around the powder, so it carries no binders and breaks down quickly once swallowed.
