Is there a difference between biotin forms, and why a high dose?
Biotin is sold as a single form, d-biotin, so there is no form to choose between; what varies is the dose. Most multivitamins give a few dozen micrograms, close to the daily reference amount. This capsule gives 8000 mcg, the kind of amount used when people take biotin on its own for hair and nails. Biotin is water soluble and excess is excreted, but a high dose can interfere with some blood tests, so tell whoever is taking blood that you take it.
Why capsules rather than tablets?
Tablets need binders, fillers and a coating to hold their shape. A capsule is a cellulose shell around the powder, so it carries no binders and breaks down quickly once swallowed.
