Enzymase

A broad spectrum digestive enzyme formula providing nine different enzymes in a single capsule to support the breakdown of proteins, carbohydrates, fats, fibre and lactose. The 300mg enzyme blend includes alpha amylase (5700 SKB units for starch digestion), neutral and acid stable proteases (600 PC and 900 HUT for protein digestion across different pH environments), peptidase with DPP IV activity (105 units, relevant for gluten and casein peptide breakdown), fungal lactase (990 ALU for lactose digestion), lipase (47 FIP for fat digestion) and cellulase (255 CU for plant fibre breakdown).

The inclusion of both bromelain (56 GDU, from pineapple) and papain (2772 TU, from papaya) adds natural proteolytic enzymes that work alongside the microbial enzymes. The DPP IV peptidase is particularly notable as it assists in breaking down the proline rich peptides found in gluten and casein that many people find difficult to digest. This is not a treatment for coeliac disease, but it may support those with mild sensitivities to these proteins. The vegetarian capsule shell makes it suitable for most dietary requirements.

Take 1 capsule with breakfast and 1 capsule with lunch.

If required, an additional capsule can also be taken with dinner. Always take immediately before or with the first few bites of food, as the enzymes need to be present in the stomach before the bulk of the meal arrives to work effectively.

Digestive enzymes are most useful for people who experience bloating, heaviness or discomfort after meals. They complement the body's own enzyme production rather than replacing it. If symptoms persist despite enzyme support, this may indicate an underlying digestive issue worth investigating further. The DPP IV activity provides extra support when eating foods containing gluten or dairy.
