Enzymase Digestive Enzyme Capsules give you nine digestive enzymes from plant and fungal sources in one capsule, covering protein, fat, starch, lactose and plant fibre. Each capsule provides 300mg of the enzyme blend, with the activity of every enzyme stated in standard units. You take one capsule with breakfast and one with lunch. What is in it
Each capsule provides 300mg of an enzyme blend: alpha amylase 5,700 SKB, neutral protease 600 PC, acid stable protease 900 HUT, peptidase 105 DPP-IV, fungal lactase 990 ALU, lipase 47 FIP, cellulase 255 CU, bromelain 56 GDU and papain 2,772 TU. The other ingredients are maltodextrin and the vegetable capsule shell, while the enzyme blend itself contains sulphites. Digestive enzyme complex is another name for it.
How to take it
Take one capsule with breakfast and one with lunch, swallowed just before or with the first few mouthfuls, so the enzymes are in the stomach before the bulk of the meal arrives. A third capsule can be taken with dinner if you need it.

The capsules are suitable for vegans and vegetarians. They are free from gluten, dairy and nuts, though the enzyme blend contains sulphites.

What does each enzyme do?
Amylase breaks down starch, the two proteases and the peptidase break down protein, lactase breaks down the sugar in milk, lipase breaks down fat, cellulase breaks down plant fibre, while bromelain and papain are the protein enzymes from pineapple and papaya.
How many capsules should I take a day?
Take one with breakfast and one with lunch, which is two a day. A third with dinner is allowed if you need it, which makes a pot last 20 days.
When is the best time to take digestive enzymes?
Just before or with the first mouthfuls of a meal. Taken after the meal they arrive too late to do much.
Can I take it with other supplements?

Is it a probiotic?
No. It is a blend of enzymes, not live bacteria, so it needs no fridge and is taken with food rather than on an empty stomach.
