L-glutamine capsules or powder, and is glutamine the same as glutamate?
L-glutamine is the amino acid; glutamate is a different compound and the flavouring in monosodium glutamate, so the two are not interchangeable. Glutamine is sold as one form, so the choice is between powder and capsules. Powder is the cheaper way to take the 5 g and upward doses used in gut and recovery protocols and dissolves in water; these capsules give 400 mg each, which suits people building a moderate amount across meals without measuring.
Why capsules rather than tablets?
Tablets need binders, fillers and a coating to hold their shape. A capsule is a cellulose shell around the powder, so it carries no binders and breaks down quickly once swallowed.
