Krill oil comes from Euphausia superba, the small crustacean of the Antarctic. Its omega 3 is bound to phospholipids rather than triglycerides, and it naturally contains astaxanthin, which keeps it fresh. Also known as Antarctic krill oil or phospholipid omega 3.
EPA and DHA contribute to the normal function of the heart at 250 mg a day. Krill oil provides less omega 3 per capsule than concentrated fish oil, but in the phospholipid form.
Each softgel provides krill oil in a fish gelatin shell, taken before a meal. It is often chosen by people who prefer krill to fish oil or who want the phospholipid form.
