Magnesium bisglycinate capsules, in stock in the UK. Nutri Tailor stocks magnesium bisglycinate, the form other brands call magnesium glycinate, 133 mg of magnesium per capsule, shipped from the UK.

Bisglycinate with oxide to reach the dose. Each vegetable capsule combines magnesium bisglycinate with magnesium oxide to provide 133 mg of elemental magnesium (35% NRV). Bisglycinate alone is bulky, so the oxide lifts the dose per capsule. For the other forms see Magnesium Citrate and Magnesium Malate.

  • 133 mg magnesium per capsule
  • Bisglycinate, the same compound as glycinate
  • Vegetable capsule, vegan, gluten free, dairy free, nut free
  • Made in the UK under GMP

Ships worldwide from the UK, with duties and taxes shown upfront at checkout.

What magnesium bisglycinate is. Magnesium bound to two molecules of the amino acid glycine, which is what the bis prefix means. Glycinate and bisglycinate are the same thing under two names. The glycine carrier is why this form is the one most people tolerate well and the one usually chosen for evening use.

How it differs from citrate and oxide. Citrate is well absorbed but loosens the bowel at higher doses; oxide is cheap, poorly absorbed on its own and mostly a laxative; bisglycinate is well absorbed and gentle. Magnesium contributes to normal muscle function, normal functioning of the nervous system, normal psychological function, the maintenance of normal bones and the reduction of tiredness and fatigue. Nutri Tailor makes no claim beyond those.

Who chooses it. People who want a gentle form for daily use. People who have found citrate or oxide hard on the stomach. People who take magnesium in the evening. Anyone who has read the forms guide below and picked glycinate.

Capsules or the other forms. Bisglycinate for tolerability and evening use; citrate when a loosening effect is welcome or price matters most; hydroxide for the highest dose per capsule.

How to take it. As the label directs, with food. If you take prescribed tablets, are pregnant or breastfeeding, or have a diagnosed condition, talk to your GP or pharmacist first.

Magnesium: glycinate vs citrate vs malate vs threonate?

Magnesium comes in several different chemical forms when sold as a supplement, and they are not interchangeable. They absorb at different rates and have different evidence bases for specific uses. Glycinate is well tolerated and absorbed via a different gut pathway than oxide, making it the typical default for general supplementation, sleep, and anxiety. Citrate is well absorbed but has a more pronounced laxative effect at higher doses. Malate fits energy metabolism contexts. L threonate is brain penetrant for cognitive applications. A 2022 systematic review in the journal Nutrition confirms that direct head to head trials comparing forms for specific clinical outcomes remain limited.

Frequently asked questions

What is Magnesium Bisglycinate good for?

Magnesium bisglycinate is magnesium bound to glycine, a calming amino acid. It is the form most chosen for sleep quality, relaxation and easing muscle tension.

When should I take Magnesium Bisglycinate?

Many people take the larger portion in the evening, as the glycinate form supports calm and sleep. Splitting the dose across two meals aids absorption.

What are signs I might need magnesium?

Common signs include muscle cramps, poor sleep, low energy, and tension. A blood test can confirm your level.

Can I take magnesium with other supplements?

Magnesium pairs well with vitamin D, zinc and B vitamins. Space it from calcium by around 2 hours for absorption.

How much magnesium is in each capsule, and how many do I take?

Each capsule provides 133 mg of elemental magnesium, 35 percent of the reference intake, from a blend of bisglycinate and oxide. The label directs one capsule with breakfast and two with dinner. If you take prescribed tablets or have a diagnosed condition, check with your GP or pharmacist first.

Is magnesium bisglycinate the same as magnesium glycinate?

Yes. Both names describe magnesium bound to two glycine molecules; the bis prefix is the chemist's way of saying two. Brands use either name for the same compound.
