This softgel provides concentrated omega 3 from the flesh of anchovy, sardine and mackerel, with EPA and DHA in a 3 to 2 ratio and vitamin E to keep it stable. The oil comes from the fish, not the liver, and the shell is fish gelatin.
EPA and DHA contribute to the normal function of the heart at 250 mg a day, and DHA to normal brain function and vision. Oily fish is the food source, and most people in the UK eat less than the recommended two portions a week.
Each softgel provides a gram of omega 3 concentrate, with more EPA and DHA per capsule than a standard fish oil. It is taken with dinner.

How much EPA and DHA is in each capsule?
1000mg of concentrated omega 3 delivering 330mg EPA and 220mg DHA per capsule. Available in 90 and 250 capsule pots.
Why EPA and DHA rather than plant omega 3?
EPA and DHA are the marine omega 3s with the strongest evidence. The body converts plant ALA to them only inefficiently, so direct EPA and DHA is the surer route.
Is there an authorised health claim for EPA and DHA?
Yes. EPA and DHA contribute to the normal function of the heart at a combined daily intake of 250mg (EFSA authorised claim). One capsule provides 550mg combined.
What is the difference between EPA and DHA?
EPA is more anti-inflammatory and mood-supportive. DHA is crucial for brain structure and cognitive function. Most people benefit from both.
Can I take omega-3 if I am on blood thinners?
Consult your doctor first. Omega-3s have mild blood-thinning effects that may interact with anticoagulant medications.
