Selenium SeMSC capsules, in stock in the UK. Nutri Tailor stocks selenium as methylselenocysteine (SeMSC), 200 mcg of selenium per capsule, shipped from the UK.
SeMSC only, no other selenium forms. Each capsule provides 200 mcg of selenium as methylselenocysteine, with no selenomethionine, sodium selenite or selenate. For the store-building form used in most thyroid research see Selenium Methionine at 200 mcg per capsule.
Ships worldwide from the UK, with duties and taxes shown upfront at checkout.
What SeMSC is. Methylselenocysteine is an organic form of selenium, the form found naturally in selenium-rich garlic, onions and broccoli. Selenomethionine, the more common supplement form, is built into body proteins as a selenium store. SeMSC is not stored that way; it is converted directly to methylselenol, a small selenium metabolite the body uses and clears.
How it differs from selenomethionine. The two forms behave differently in the body. Selenomethionine builds general selenium stores and is the form used in most thyroid research. SeMSC bypasses the store and feeds the methylselenol pathway directly. Both provide 200 mcg of selenium per capsule. Selenium contributes to normal thyroid function, the normal function of the immune system, the maintenance of normal hair and nails and the protection of cells from oxidative stress. Nutri Tailor makes no claim beyond those for either form.
Who chooses it. People who want the methylselenocysteine form specifically, usually on a practitioner's suggestion. People already taking selenomethionine who want to alternate forms rather than combine them. Anyone who wants selenium from a food-type form rather than a yeast or inorganic source.
Capsules or drops. Nutri Tailor stocks SeMSC as a capsule only. Selenium is a mineral where more is not better, so keep to one capsule a day and do not take it alongside another selenium product; if you also take a multivitamin, check its selenium content first.
How to take it. One capsule once a day away from food, 30 to 60 minutes before a meal or two hours after, as the label directs. If you have a thyroid condition or take prescribed tablets, talk to your GP before adding selenium.
