Each capsule provides 150mcg of vitamin K2 as menaquinone 7 (MK 7), the most bioavailable and longest acting form of vitamin K2. MK 7 has a half life of approximately 72 hours in the body, compared to just a few hours for MK 4 (the other common K2 form), meaning a single daily dose maintains consistent activity.

Vitamin K2 activates two critical proteins: osteocalcin (which binds calcium into bone matrix) and matrix Gla protein (which prevents calcium from depositing in arteries, kidneys and other soft tissues). This dual action makes K2 essential for anyone supplementing vitamin D3 or calcium, as it directs the increased calcium absorption to where it belongs. K2 deficiency is common because it is found in limited food sources (natto, certain aged cheeses, grass fed animal products) and is not present in meaningful amounts in green vegetables (which contain K1, a different form with different functions). The vegetarian capsule shell makes this suitable for most dietary requirements.

Taking with a meal containing fat supports absorption. Pair with vitamin D3 for optimal calcium metabolism. This product is particularly important for those taking vitamin D3 Oil (which does not include K2) and for anyone supplementing calcium.

If taking blood thinning medication (warfarin, acenocoumarol), consult your prescriber before supplementing K2, as it directly affects vitamin K dependent clotting factors. This does not apply to newer anticoagulants (DOACs) such as apixaban or rivarelbano, which work through different mechanisms.
