Zinc picolinate is zinc bound to picolinic acid. It is one of the better absorbed forms of zinc and is gentle on the stomach.
Zinc contributes to the normal function of the immune system, to the maintenance of normal skin, hair and nails, to normal fertility and reproduction, and to cognitive function. Intake is often low in those who eat little meat or shellfish.

When should I take zinc?
Take it with food, which most people find easier on the stomach. Leave a gap of an hour or two between zinc and iron or calcium supplements.
What are signs I might be low in zinc?
Signs people report include changes in taste, slow-healing skin and getting run down more often. A blood test can confirm your level.
Is zinc relevant to skin?
Zinc contributes to the maintenance of normal skin. That is the authorised claim; Nutri Tailor makes no claim about any skin condition.
How much zinc is too much?
Long-term intake above 40mg daily can cause copper deficiency. Cycle on and off or use a zinc-copper combination.
Why zinc picolinate rather than zinc citrate, gluconate or oxide?
Picolinate is zinc bound to picolinic acid, a form the body absorbs well. Citrate and gluconate are also well absorbed and are common in high street products. Zinc bisglycinate, zinc bound to glycine, is another well absorbed chelated form and a fair alternative to picolinate, though Nutri Tailor does not stock it. Oxide is the cheapest and the least well absorbed. Picolinate is the usual choice for people who want a moderate daily dose in a form that is easy on the stomach.
Why capsules rather than tablets?
Tablets need binders, fillers and a coating to hold their shape. A capsule is a cellulose shell around the powder, so it carries no binders and breaks down quickly once swallowed.
