★★★★★ "I won't go back to high street supplements. The difference in quality is something you can actually feel." Susie
Copper Citrate Capsules give you copper bound to citric acid, a well absorbed form, for anyone taking zinc long term. Each capsule provides 2.5mg of copper and you take one a day with food. One pot holds 90 capsules, which is a 90 day supply.
Copper is a trace mineral your body needs in small amounts, for moving iron around, for your immune and nervous systems and for the colour of your hair and skin. Zinc taken on its own for a long time can lower it, which is why the two are often taken together.
Copper Citrate Capsules are most useful for:
Each capsule provides 2.5mg of copper, which is 250% of the daily reference value. The other ingredients are cellulose and the vegetable capsule shell. Cupric citrate and copper(II) citrate are other names for it.
Take one capsule a day with food, which supports absorption and keeps it easy on the stomach. Leave at least two hours between it and any zinc, iron or high dose vitamin C, which interfere with copper uptake.
The capsules are suitable for vegans and vegetarians. They are free from gluten, dairy and nuts.
The capsules are made in the UK in a GMP certified cleanroom facility accredited to ISO 9001 and ISO 14001. Every batch is traceable from raw material to finished product. Like every supplement Nutri Tailor stocks, they are practitioner grade and guaranteed additive free.
Why copper citrate rather than gluconate or bisglycinate?
Citrate, gluconate and bisglycinate are all well absorbed forms of copper, while oxide is the one to avoid because very little of it is absorbed. Citrate gives a low amount per capsule, which matters with copper because the body needs it in small amounts.
How much copper should I take a day?
Take one capsule a day, which gives you 2.5mg. Most people only need to add copper if they take zinc long term or have tested low.
When is the best time to take copper?
With a meal, at least two hours away from any zinc, iron or high dose vitamin C.
How much copper do I need with my zinc?
A common ratio is 1mg of copper for every 15mg of zinc, so one capsule covers a zinc intake of up to about 37mg a day.
Does copper have side effects?
Taking it with a meal reduces any chance of stomach discomfort. At one capsule a day the amount stays well within the usual limits.
Why capsules rather than tablets?
A capsule is a cellulose shell around the powder, so it needs none of the binders or coating that hold a tablet together.

Copper Citrate provides an essential mineral supporting multiple body functions.
Take with food for best absorption. Be aware of interactions.
A blood test is the most reliable way to assess status.
Yes, many minerals affect medication absorption. Space supplements from medications by 2-4 hours.
Minerals compete for absorption and function in ratios. Too much of one can deplete others.
Citrate, gluconate and bisglycinate are all well absorbed forms of copper; oxide is the one to avoid because very little of it is absorbed. Citrate is copper bound to citric acid at a low dose per capsule, which matters with copper because the body needs it in small amounts. It suits people who take zinc daily and want to keep copper in balance, at a dose that stays well within the usual limits.
Tablets need binders, fillers and a coating to hold their shape. A capsule is a cellulose shell around the powder, so it carries no binders and breaks down quickly once swallowed.
