When should I take Magnesium Citrate?
Take with meals, split across the day. If you find the osmotic effect loosens the bowel, reduce the dose or take it earlier in the day.
What are signs I might need magnesium?

Can I take magnesium with other supplements?
Magnesium pairs well with vitamin D, zinc and B vitamins. Space it from calcium by around 2 hours for absorption.
How much magnesium is in each capsule, and how long does a pot last?
Each capsule gives you 85mg of elemental magnesium as citrate. At 2 capsules twice a day (340mg) a pot of 90 lasts about three weeks. At 2 capsules once a day (170mg) it lasts six weeks.
How does magnesium citrate compare with bisglycinate and malate?
Citrate is magnesium bound to citric acid; it dissolves readily, is well absorbed, and at higher doses draws a little water into the bowel. Bisglycinate is bound to glycine, is the gentlest on the stomach and is the usual evening choice. Malate is bound to malic acid and is more often taken in the daytime. All three are well absorbed. Citrate suits people who want a well absorbed form that also keeps them regular.
Why capsules rather than tablets?
Tablets need binders, fillers and a coating to hold their shape. A capsule is a cellulose shell around the powder, so it carries no binders and breaks down quickly once swallowed.
