Each capsule gives you 71mg of elemental magnesium as a mix of citrate and malate. At 2 capsules twice a day (284mg) a pot of 90 lasts about three weeks. At 2 capsules once a day (142mg) it lasts six weeks.
How does magnesium citrate malate compare with bisglycinate or plain citrate?
Citrate malate is magnesium bound to both citric acid and malic acid, so it sits between the two single forms. Plain citrate is well absorbed and can loosen the bowel at higher doses. Bisglycinate is bound to glycine, is the gentlest on the stomach and is the usual evening choice. Citrate malate is often picked for daytime use by people who want a well absorbed magnesium without the laxative edge of straight citrate. All three are well absorbed; the difference is mainly how your digestion responds and when you take it.
Why capsules rather than tablets?
Tablets need binders, fillers and a coating to hold their shape. A capsule is a cellulose shell around the powder, so it carries no binders and breaks down quickly once swallowed.
