A concentrated protease enzyme blend providing 550mg per capsule with dual activity measurements: 11,000 HUT units/g (general protein digestion) and 350 DPP IV units/g (gluten and casein peptide breakdown). The enzymes are derived from Aspergillus fungal sources, meaning they are active across a wide pH range and begin working in the stomach rather than requiring the alkaline environment of the small intestine.

The DPP IV (dipeptidyl peptidase IV) activity is the distinguishing feature of this product. DPP IV specifically cleaves the proline rich peptides found in gluten and casein that are resistant to normal human digestive enzymes. These incompletely digested peptides are implicated in intestinal permeability and immune reactions in sensitive individuals. PRO3 does not make gluten safe for those with coeliac disease, but it may reduce symptoms in those with non coeliac gluten sensitivity or casein intolerance by more thoroughly breaking down these problematic peptides before they reach the intestinal lining. Capsules can be opened and contents mixed directly into food.

Directions for use:

Take 4 capsules at the start of a meal.

The capsules should be taken immediately before eating, as the enzymes need to be present in the stomach when food arrives. They can be swallowed whole or pulled apart and the contents mixed directly into food for those who have difficulty with capsules.

The 4 capsule dose provides 2200mg of protease blend. For meals containing gluten or dairy when complete avoidance is difficult (such as dining out), the full 4 capsule dose provides maximum DPP IV coverage. For routine meals without known trigger foods, a lower dose of 2 capsules may be sufficient.
