Jet lag

Jet lag is a body clock problem. Light, meal timing and sleep timing do most of the work; where magnesium and glycine fit; why melatonin is prescription-only in the UK.

What is usually behind it

Jet lag is your body clock out of step with the clock on the wall. Light at the right times, meals at local times, and holding off on naps do most of the work. Eastward travel is harder than westward.

Supplements have a small part. Magnesium in the evening supports the wind-down (magnesium contributes to normal psychological function); glycine an hour before the local bedtime showed better mornings from the first night in small trials; electrolytes matter on the day of travel because flying dehydrates. Melatonin is prescription-only in the UK, so it is not sold here and not discussed as a supplement.
