How to boost your results
Particularly chicken broths as they are rich in Type II collagen which is what our joints are made from. Try to look at these as therapeutic foods that are consumed on a daily basis wherever possible.
This will dictate whether your body swings towards an anti-inflammatory state (omega 3 dominant) or pro-inflammatory state (omega 6 dominant). Small oily fish (sardines, mackerel, anchovies, herring, trout and salmon) are your most abundant omega 3 sources and would ideally feature 4-5 times a week to have their highest therapeutic effects. On the other side of this equation, be aware of consumption of high omega 6 levels in intensively reared meat (grass fed organic meat is higher in omega 3), sunflower, vegetable and rapeseed oils, as well as processed foods.
Pain can often mean we avoid using our joints as we should to naturally avoid discomfort. However, if the muscles that stabilise our joints weaken through lack of use this will cause friction within the joint to increase and worsen the situation. Look at including low impact strengthening through reformer Pilates, resistance band exercises and yoga.

Founder, Nutri Tailor

Per NICE NG226 (Osteoarthritis in over 16s 2022), first-line OA management is therapeutic exercise, weight management, manual therapy, and topical NSAIDs. NICE explicitly recommends against glucosamine, chondroitin, and intra-articular hyaluronan injections. This plan includes N-acetyl glucosamine and chondroitin sulphate in Collagen Formula (components NICE does not recommend; some patients still report subjective benefit) alongside stronger-evidence components: Inflammite curcumin with piperine (Daily 2016 SR/MA showed moderate effect on OA pain), oral hyaluronic acid 200 mg/day (Oe 2016 review of RCTs, emerging knee-pain evidence), and collagen synthesis cofactors vitamin C, zinc, copper (EFSA Article 13.1 health claims for normal collagen formation). Allow 8 to 12 weeks. For inflammatory arthritis features (morning stiffness over 60 minutes, multiple symmetrical joints, systemic symptoms), GP referral for rheumatoid arthritis workup per NICE NG100 is appropriate.
Reduced stiffness within 4-6 weeks. Full benefits over 2-3 months.
Generally yes. Consult your provider for interactions.
Inflammation, cartilage breakdown, autoimmune conditions, and injuries all contribute. Identifying the cause guides treatment.
Gentle movement often helps. Avoid high-impact activities during flares. Strengthen supporting muscles.
Glucosamine supports cartilage structure. Collagen provides building blocks. Many people benefit from both.
